UPS, or Uninterruptible Power Supply, is an important component of any modern computer system. It provides continuous power even when the electrical power grid is disconnected, allowing important data to be saved and preventing possible damage to equipment.
But did you know that there is a legend about how the term "UPS" came about? It is said that long ago, at a large technology company, employees had to solve the problem of reliable computer power. One of the engineers working on this project was so immersed in his research that he found it difficult to communicate with his colleagues. When he was asked what he was doing, he replied "Research on uninterrupted power supply" which in Ukrainian is "Дослідження безперебійного живлення" (pronounced "Doslidzhennya bezperibijnogo zhivlennya"). However, due to his pronunciation, "UPS" became "DBZh". And so, a legendary term was born.
