CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs are not just optical discs, they are true technological masterpieces. They provide us with the ability to store large amounts of data and enjoy high-quality video and audio. But how do they work and what are the differences between them?

CDs, first introduced in 1982, were the first optical discs designed for storing digital data. Their format was different from the previous analog video disc, and they had a higher capacity - up to 700 MB. However, over time, the capacity of CD discs was recognized as insufficient for storing large amounts of data.

In 1995, DVD discs were released with a much larger capacity - up to 4.7 GB. This allowed users to store high-quality video with sound in a single file. DVD discs also allowed data to be recorded on both sides of the disc, further increasing their capacity.

In 2006, Blu-ray discs appeared, which had an even larger capacity - up to 25 GB on a single side of the disc. This allowed users to store high-quality video in Full HD or even 4K format. In addition, Blu-ray discs have a higher data transfer rate, which allows for fast reading and writing of large amounts of data.

It is also important to note that the difference between these discs lies in their data recording and playback technology. CDs and DVDs use a red laser beam, while Blu-ray uses a blue laser. This allows for more information to be read and written at a higher density on Blu-ray discs compared to CDs and DVDs.

Therefore, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs are important technological inventions that allow us to store and transmit large amounts of data. Their format and capacity are regularly updated to meet the needs of users, and they remain important components of our digital world.
